The High Court has officially placed DT Dobie into liquidation, with an official liquidator appointed to dissolve the company. This move comes months after the iconic car dealer handed over its assets to CFAO Mobility Motors Kenya.

Mark Gakuru confirmed his appointment as the official receiver and liquidator of the DT Dobie in a notice published on August 15. The appointment comes after the company passed a special resolution on June 3, 2025, authorizing the liquidation.

“Pursuant to the provisions of the Insolvency Act, take notice that the Official Receiver was appointed as Liquidator of the property of D.T. Dobie & Company (Kenya) Limited following a Special Resolution dated 3rd day of June, 2025,” the notice read.

The notice also directed all the creditors of the DT Dobie to submit their claims against the company on or before September 15, 2025. Creditors are required to provide full details of the debts by completing Proof of Debt (Form 5), available on the eCitizen Portal.

DT Dobie was founded in 1949 by David Theodore Dobie, a British army officer. The company served as the official regional dealer of Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki, and Nissan.

While the company itself is being liquidated, its brands and services will continue to be offered under the CFAO Motors Kenya banner.

The merger aimed to streamline CFAO Group’s African mobility business by consolidating its two major Kenyan automotive brands.
