The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the pump prices for Super Petrol by Sh1 to Sh185 per liter, and the prices of Kerosene have dropped by Sh1 to Sh156 per litre. However, the Authority left Diesel prices unchanged.
The updated retail prices of petroleum products will take effect from 15th August 2025 and remain valid until 14th September 2025.
In Nairobi, the retail prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will be Sh.185.31, Sh171.58, and Sh155.58 during the period under review.
Motorists in Nakuru will pay Sh 184.35 for a litre of Super Petrol and 170.97 for a litre of Diesel. In Eldoret, Super Petrol and Diesel will retail at Sh185.17 and Sh171.80 per litre, respectively.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” noted EPRA in a statement.
The revision comes as the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol dropped by 0.73%, from US$628.30 per cubic metre in June 2025 to US$623.71 in July 2025. Meanwhile, Diesel prices rose by 3.08%, climbing from US$616.59 to US$638.58 per cubic metre, while Kerosene saw a 3.20% increase, from US$608.54 to US$628.02 per cubic metre during the same period.
