The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship vacancies for teachers in Junior High Schools to aid in the roll out of the competency-based curriculum.
In an announcement made on Tuesday, August 12, the Commission invited eligible candidates to apply for available positions.
The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum,” the Commission wrote.
To qualify for the positions, candidates must meet a set of specific criteria, including being a Kenyan citizen, holding at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent, and being registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
According to the Commission, the Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year programme designed to equip and maintain the competencies of individuals entering the teaching profession. The programme targets unemployed teachers to be placed in schools where they will gain teaching experience through mentorship, coaching, and exposure to practical teaching experience.
“This is not a remunerative engagement. However, interns attached to Junior schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000. The stipend will be paid subject to statutory deductions, where applicable,” the Commission added.
Interested and qualified persons are required to submit their applications through the Commission’s website before Midnight on September 9, 2025.
